How to Look Like Sunshine in the Rain

Remember those rainy days in college when you would skip class and lay with your friends while watching old episodes of Saved By The Bell and drinking Dark & Stormy cocktails?  Well my dears, that time is over, so you better get you butt out of bed and show up for work without looking like a water-logged subway rat.

The city falls apart in the rain, but there’s no reason why your look should follow suit.  We’ve got your essential rain remedies to make your radiant beauty shine through.

If you missed the boat today and don't have this rain gear in your cosmetics bag, then go pick it up because the bad weather is supposed to stick around all week.  Oh, one more reminder, everyone gets into bad weather funks so don't forget that a smile goes a long way (try it out on the cashier at the dirty deli where you get your morning joe, it will make her day).

1. Care for the Hair
Our Pick: Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Styling Heat Protect Spray ($22 at Sephora.com)
You are going to need some extra flat ironing this morning, so make sure to protect your locks against your hot tools.  This safety spray offers 450-degree heat protection to nourish, strengthen and instantly refresh your style.  Spritz on dry hair and then go to town with your flat iron.  You can also bring it to the office for a quick touch up in the elevator to maintain your hairstyle all day - plus, the light lemon scent will make your hair smell great.

2. Peeper Protection
Our Pick: COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Mousse Waterproof Mascara ($9 at Drugstore.com)
This morning, make sure your mascara is water proof.  Racoon circles are difficult to repair at your desk without going into a total makeup overhaul.  This particular mascara amplifies our lashes without clumping or smudging.  Added bonus, the hypoallergenic formula contains natural beeswax and tapioca to help make it lighter and healthier for the eyes.

3. Mouth Maintaince
Our Pick: Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint ($24 at Sephora.com)
Typical Tarte, saving the day and keeping our mouth moisturized at the same time.  This peppermint-infused lip stain not only provides long-lasting pigment for all-day stay, but increases skin’s water content for a plumped up appearance.  Even as you sit at your desk drinking coffee the color won’t budge.  Apply before you leave the apartment and you’ll look polished for your morning meeting.

4. Complexion Perfection
Our Pick: Stila Lip & Cheek Stain ($24 at Stilacosmetics.com)
On rainy days you need to add some dimension to your face and the best way to brighten up your cheeks is with a little blush.  This multi-tasking stain reacts to your pH level to create a perfectly personalized hue that looks different on everyone.  As an added benefit, the nourishing formula contains potent antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E  moisturize so you look fresh and dewy (not tired and wet).  You can give yourself a fresh flush by dabbing onto the cheekbone and then blend backwards towards the bottom of the eye, to highlight and contour the apples of your cheeks.
