How to Win a VMA (Vivacious Makeup Awards)

This weekend the music industry’s hottest chart toppers walked the red carpet at MTV’s VMAs, but despite many ridiculous costumes, all we noticed were the glowing faces of the presenters, nominees and winners.  We decided to turn this musical celebration into our own awards, making VMA into the Vivacious Makeup Awards.

Smokin’ Hot Smokey Eye: Selena Gomez
Who says she’s not perfect?  When it comes to this songstress’ eye makeup, clearly she knows how to do some things perfect.  Her makeup artist created the delicate ombre effect, by starting with a chocolate brown at the base and gradually lightening to a beigey-pink hue.  Then, they smudged a kohl liner around the lash line and topped off the look with individual lashes, really making her peepers pop.  Obviously being “just beautiful me” seems to be working well.

Best Blush: Britney Spears
A few years back, I would have expected to shave my head before giving Britney a beauty award.  Her musical resurgence is as impressive as her makeover, and both MTV and Miss Fake It ‘Til You Make It are in agreement, girlfriend’s got her groove back.  Her bright blush cheeks accentuated her smile and created a youthful, yet sophisticated look.  Instead of “Dancing until the World Ends,” it looks like Queen Bee was well rested and ready to accept her Lifetime Achievement Award.

Prettiest Pout: Beyonce
Beyonce really shocked the world by revealing her ballooning baby bump, but no surprise her makeup looked flawless.  Her nude lip was subtle and romantic letting her “run the world” like a fun, flirty, fearless female.  To achieve the effect, her makeup artist started with a nude lipstick base.  He then applied lip liner in a hue two shades lighter than the original color. Finally, he polished off the look with a high-shine gloss for added dimension.  From what we’ve seen, she is going to be a beautiful mommy to be.
